The Best Holiday Train Displays In and Around Westchester

Train displays have become as much a part of the holiday season as the Nutcracker and holiday tree lightings. They are so festive and fun, it’s no wonder families look forward to them each year.

The Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden is a sure crowd pleaser for all ages; however, there are other train shows in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, and we’ve rounded up several local options to celebrate locomotion for the holidays. Train Show - Scarsdale
Greenburgh Nature Center
November 26 and 27 and December 4 and 5, 2016
$10 for adults, $9 for children 2-12; Free for members
Greenburgh Nature Center is once again partnering with Yonkers Model Railroad Club to present this beautiful annual train exhibit for even the youngest enthusiasts. The exhibit, held on weekends from 10am to 4:30pm, features countryside scenes, mountains, tunnels and a replica of the Nature Center. Members of the Railroad Club will also be available to discuss the display.

Holidays on the Hill Train Show – Katonah
Lasdon Park, Arboretum & Veterans Museum
December 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 2016
$5 for adults, $3 for kids 2-12, FREE for 2 and under
Lasdon Park is gearing up for the holiday season with their annual winter wonderland and its holiday train show! Sweep through iconic New York City and up the Harlem line to picturesque Katonah with a final stop at Christmas Village in the North Pole! Santa will also be making special appearances (check the schedule). Also at Lasdon, you can purchase your Christmas tree, indulge in hot chocolate with a fixings bar, listen to a story, gaze at holiday light displays, go for a wagon ride and drop off Toys for Tots.

$15 for ages 12 and up; $12 for ages 3-11; 2 and under are FREE
Head to Christmas Junction and see the Lionel Polar Express wind its way through a lovely Christmas village and around snowy hills. The train display is part of the Holiday Spirit Festival, a Christmas extravaganza and winter wonderland full of holiday attractions including Santa's workshop, the Enchanted Forest of Lights, Frost Fairies and more. New this year: Christie the Christmas Train Show with live actors and animatronics.
