Though the end of summer is on the horizon, there's still a lot of fun happening this weekend in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley. Take your pick of large-scale fairs this weekend--the Dutchess County Fair and the Otisville Country Fair make their annual return and the New York Renaissance Faire continues. Otisville Country Fair - Otisville
Now in its 26th year, this country fair runs Thursday through Sunday and features country line dancing, a chainsaw competition, horseshoe tournament and a lot more! FREE; activities and food for purchase; parking: $4

Dutchess County Fair - Rhinebeck
First held in 1842 and currently the second largest county fair in New York, the Dutchess County Fair boasts agricultural and horticultural shows, a full-fledged carnival with rides, food and games and more. Also enjoy quirky entertainment including racing pigs and diving dogs--plus a lot more! Tickets are $15 for adults; free for kids 12 and under.

Living History: Military Reenactment Day - Garrison
Step back in time and learn about the history of the military as re-enactors from three wars enlighten visitors about military camp life of the 18th and 19th centuries. $5; children 6 and under are FREE

Fairy Walk - Katonah
Don your favorite fairy wings and frolic through the woods in search of woodland creatures. FREE

Pirate School - White Plains
X marks the spot at this treasure hunt, which you’ll be ready for after honing your pirate skills under the tutelage of a master. FREE

BEYOND WESTCHESTER

Make your way to Queens and help kick off the US Open with Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. Enjoy interactive games, a juggling workshop, tennis and all kinds of family fun entertainment--even watch the pros practice. With the exception of one ticketed concert, all events are FREE.
