Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: Spring Fun, Egg Hunts, The Science Barge, Wooly Sheep and More, April 12 & 13

Ready for Spring Break? If you're planning a staycation, Westchester has lots of great events to choose from this weekend. We mentioned a few in our April Go List including the weekend long Sheep-to-Shawl festival and Disney Jr.'s Pirate & Princess Adventure. Of course, we can't forget the many Easter egg hunts happening all over town

Also on our monthly Go List is Opening Day at the Science Barge. Families can enjoy live music, crafts, science experiments and more. The Greenburgh Nature Center is hosting its Spring Celebration and Egg Hunt with a day of family fun to celebrate the emergence of spring. Meet the animals, make seasonal crafts, look for signs of spring and hunt for eggs.

Sheep-to-Shawl - Sleepy Hollow
Philipsburg Manor’s festival celebrates all things wooly sheep. Visitors can see the entire process of making woolen cloth and participate in many stages of the process. Interpreters, wearing costumes of the 18th century, also demonstrate the labor intensive process of making linen from the flax plant. $8-$14, Free for children under 3.

Disney Junior Live on Tour - White Plains

“Egg”- Stravaganza - New Rochelle
Spring crafts, storytelling, egg gathering, face painting and more for children in grades PreK-2 at the Hugh Doyle Center. FREE.

Opening Day at the Science Barge - Yonkers
Celebrate spring and the new growing season. Join in the fun with live music, crafts, tours, kite flying, science experiments, greenhouse tours, energy bike and the all new BioPod Composter. FREE.

Sid the Science Kid - Tarrytown
Watch as Sid, May, Gabriela and Gerald come to life in a live stage experience. These popular characters head to Tarrytown to discover the excitement and curiosities of the world. $35.

SUNDAY

Spring Celebration and Egg Hunt - Scarsdale
A day of family fun to celebrate the emergence of spring. Visit the Greenburgh Nature Center’s barnyard to meet the furry and feathered friends. Make seasonal crafts, look for signs of spring with a naturalist and hunt for eggs. $15 on event day, $10 pre-registration.

Easter Egg Hunt - Montrose
Join the fun as over 200 children collect nearly 5,000 eggs filled with candy, toys and prizes. FREE

BEYOND WESTCHESTER

Sunday is Opening Day at Coney Island's Luna Park--take a thrilling ride on the famous Cyclone or one of the new rides debuting for the 2014 season.

Stamford Palace Theater presents Playtime at the Palace: Bubble Mania, heady mix of visual comedy, quick wit, big band swing music and amazing soap bubble manipulations.
