Weekend Fun with Westchester Kids: St. Patrick’s Day Lives On, Free Arts Day and More, Mar. 21-22

3/18/15 - By Susan Miele

This weekend in Westchester is a great time to be out and about with your family, as there’s a lot happening all over the county! The fun can be grouped into three main categories: St. Patrick’s Day, shows and art.

Though St. Patty’s Day took place earlier this week, it isn’t time to pack up your “Kiss Me I’m Irish” garb yet! The fun continues at the Yonkers Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade or Annual Sound Shore-Mamaroneck St. Patrick’s Day Parade

As for shows, there are a bunch of appealing performances to choose from: Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s Macbeth, Fly Guy & Other Stories, Sammy Cortino: Magic to Rock and Free Concert: Yonkers Philharmonic.

For programs featuring the visual arts, get inspired at Open House and Free Arts Day, Museums at the Library Day or Celebrate Turkish Culture: Water Marbling Demonstration.

But wait—there’s more! Read on for even more fun events this weekend, then click through to our Event Calendar for even more events, both this weekend and beyond.

BEYOND WESTCHESTER

Just as one door opens while another door closes, this weekend there’s one family musical closing in Manhattan while another one opens.

Prep your kids for sleepaway camp (or just go for the entertainment value) at Camp Kappawanna, a sympathetic tale that chronicles the mixed feelings associated with going away from home for the first time. The composers include Grammy Award-nominee Lisa Loeb. Opening this weekend.

If you dig kids’ shows with a grownup edge, check out this production, which turns the classic tale Pinocchio into a psychedelic rock musical. Closing this weekend.

Don’t forget to check out our Event Calendar for even more fun happening throughout Westchester!
