While gallivanting around Westchester enjoying all the fun and enriching activities you’ve identified via Mommy Poppins, there comes a time when you need to whet your whistle and recharge your battery. Several new eateries have recently opened that are worth a visit:

• Sugar Mama by Kim Bake Shop – Before opening  her shop, Kim sold artistic cookies on Etsy. Special order your dream design, or pop in for the confections du jour, which include a rotating assortment of cupcakes, cake pops, brownies and more. – Larchmont

• Sweeets – Even adults will be “like a kid in a candy store” at this super-sweet candy and confection shop with delectables that appeal to all ages. Whether to satisfy your daily sweet tooth or for party favors or a candy buffet, Sweeets has it all. – Larchmont
   
• Halstead Avenue Taqueria – This colorful shop offers tacos, quesadillas and the like, as well as horchata, Pineapple Crush and other kid-pleasers. – Harrison
   
• Stillmeadow Gourmet – Takeout/dine-in options include ham-and-cheese biscuits, lasagna and quinoa bowls, in addition to packaged food and drinks. – Bronxville
   
• 5 Napkin Burger – The first Westchester outpost of this NYC-based eatery offers lunch, brunch and dinner. Menu highlights for kids (and others!) include Peanut Butter Waffles, Cheese Dog Roll-Ups and shakes. – Yonkers

Relocations and expansions:

• Westchester Circus Arts has a new home:  Classes are now offered at Life, the Place to Be. Check out our in-dept review of Westchester Circus Arts. – Ardsley
   
• Balloon World has relocated from Mamaroneck to Larchmont. Though the store’s website doesn’t yet reflect this (as of the posting of this feature), the new address is 1951 Palmer Avenue.

• Groove, which offers music classes and family jams for infants up to age 4 in Larchmont, is now offering a class on Thursdays in Dobbs Ferry.
   
• Thinking ahead about costume shopping for Halloween? A new pop-up store is popping up at Ridge Hill in Yonkers: Spirit Halloween.
   
• Children with Down Syndrome have a new play space all to their own: Gigi’s Playhouse. The center offers enriching programs in academics and motor skills. Impressively, programs are FREE. – Ardsley
   
• The Westchester Knicks announced its season schedule.
   
• Banned Books Week is September 27-October 3. Several libraries and bookstores in Westchester are honoring the importance of biblio-freedom, including the Lewisboro Library. Stop by The Voracious Reader to get your fREADom bookmark.
