Stained Glass Stories at Cotsen Children’s Library
Come celebrate the fairy tales featured in the Cotsen Children’s Library’s current exhibit Once Upon New Times: Reimagining Children’s Classics. Shedding some light on those old tales, participants can create their own stained glass window of their favorite story.
Supplies are provided. View the gallery of original windows, take a peek at the glass art of the University Chapel, and play with color and shapes at the light tables.
Artist Karen Caldwell from Sunflower Glass Studio shares Stained Glass through the Ages. Karen chats about the centuries of 2-D art glass, from the ‘hand-painted’ Medieval and Renaissance glass techniques, the late 1800’s ‘painting with glass,’ to modern fused glass. She brings examples of each era of stained glass windows, the different types of glass used and the tools to create her art.
Please note that the hands-on project does include paint. Dress for mess is highly recommended.
